From Lynn Carmen Day
Dear
RUSD Team,
You
recently received an email from Dr. Hansen regarding our annual “RUSD
Engagement Survey”. As employees of RUSD, we share the core values of
learning and well-being for all and strive to care for and honor each other.
Employee engagement is a priority for us and is foundational to student
achievement and the success of our District as a whole. RUSD continues to
partner with Gallup, an independent, research-based consulting company known
for its understanding of people and their opinions, to administer the survey.
Gallup assists our efforts to gather and understand perceptions and feelings
throughout our organization and to increase the engagement of our employees and
our students.
For
the fourth year, we will conduct a survey of all employees at RUSD. The survey
administration will begin on October 22, 2018, and end on November 2, 2018.
Soon, you will receive an email with the survey link directly from Gallup.
Remember,
our opinions will be completely confidential with no individual responses
revealed. Once Gallup provides the District with results, we will review the
results at all levels in order to continue our discussion about workplace
engagement and how to take it to a higher level for our students and
ourselves. We all have an opportunity to impact the success of RUSD!
As
we strive to make the process as efficient as possible, you should be able to
complete the survey in between five to eight minutes. We have also arranged for
Gallup to provide a hotline that any of us can call to have questions answered
during the process. Please provide a printout to any staff member that does not
have access to email.
Your
opinion needs to be heard, both within your school and districtwide. Thank you
for your commitment to success. Let’s continue making RUSD the best place to
learn and work!
Sincerely,
Lynn Carmen Day, Chief Academic Officer

Common Commitments – We are going to implement the RA in RACE. We are going to use collaboration/Productive Partnering and Sentence frames.
You were provided with RACE (ELA and Math), the 4 L’s and sentence frame posters. They are expected to be up and used in all classrooms (important for coherence). They do not have to be the exact ones we passed out but they need to be the same in content - I understand wall space can be a challenge.
We are going to model RA verbally by using complete sentences and holding students accountable for responding in complete sentences.
As we move forward this school year I want to also remind you that we are focusing on core instruction. If we are focused on high levels of instruction with engaging and meaningful standards based lessons we are well on our way to moving students. RACE, collaboration, sentence frames and modeling complete sentences, are some instructional strategies that can help us move students.
